Mailbag: Fairy tree
| 27 Oct 2017 | 12:23

Dear Editor,
When the beautiful weeping cherry tree that graced our garden
for many years died last summer, I had the main branches cut back
close to the trunk and hired a carpenter to build the fairy houses on
their stumps.
Inside them he added solar lights so the houses light up
at night. My children gave me charming fairy windows and doors and I
planted the climbing clematis and day lilies at its base.
Since I am an artist who specializes in fantasy, I added a garden flag
and pillows made from my images.
The tree might inspire others who want to preserve, in a whimsical way,
the trunk of a tree that has died in their yard.
Thank you for having a look.
Sincerely,
Barbara Lanza
